What Katy Did is a morality tale in an 19 th-century pink striped dress (quite literally—in my copy of the novel, Katy is wearing a pink-and-white striped dress with her hair in a flyaway braid.) Katy Carr is a tomboy—that hated word!—who loves to “make-believe” and play boisterously with her five younger siblings and best friend. What Katy Did () About book: So this book was sorta weird, in as much as I'm not really sure what I think of it. I started out really liking it. The antics of Katy and her siblings made me laugh out loud several times. Katy is a tomboy, impulsive, always getting into some scrape, saying the first that pops in her head in other words, fun. "Oh, I don't know; play round and have splendid times," replied Katy, throwing her bag of books into the air, and catching it again. But theother girls looked as if they didn't think this good fun at all, and asif they were sorry for her; and Katy felt suddenly that her vacationwasn't going . MissPetingill said it was wonderful to see how that child let himself bemanaged. But I think the secret was that Katy didn't "manage," but triedto be always kind and loving, and considerate of Phil's feelings.
